The association shall be a membership-based organization, in which there shall be such levels of membership and support as the Board of Directors. The Association shall consist of regular members and honorary members.

1.Regular members

The regular members can be Afghan healthcare professionals in the diaspora; non-Afghan Canadian health professionals; and businesses of the small, medium, and large enterprises who are operating in health-related fields in Canada.

Fee schedule per year:

  • $50       Individuals, students, and professionals
  • $100     Businesses with 1-3 employees
  • $300     Businesses with 4-6 employees
  • $500     Businesses with 7-10 employees
  • $700     Businesses with 11-15 employees
  • $1200   Businesses with 16 + employees

2. Honorary member

An honorary member is defined as a medical and non-medical individual and representative of a business or organization who supports the purpose of the Association, is willing to make contributions to the cause of the Association, and has been approved by the Board of Directors. Honorary members shall not hold elected positions, not have the right to vote, and not to pay membership fees. They can be an ex- officio member of the Board. They can participate in Board meetings in an advisory capacity but will not have decision-making or voting powers.

Membership Enrolment

Membership applications shall be addressed to the CAAHP’s Board of Directors which has the power to approve or reject the request.

The membership validity period is covered for three calendar years and shall be renewed every three years.

The enrolment or renewal becomes effective after the payment of the membership fees on a prorated basis.

Membership Termination

The Board of Directors may terminate a membership for the following reasons:

  1. If the annual membership fee is not paid by the due date.
  2. Whatever other reason the Board of Directors may deem necessary for the proper functioning of CAAHP, in which case the member shall be notified at least 10 days prior to termination and shall be given the reason for termination.
  3. Misrepresentation and actions that infringes upon the objectives of CAAHP as stated in the C
  4. If the member is legally pursued by either the Canadian or Afghanistan government.

Reinstatement of membership

The Board of Directors may, by the affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3), reinstate a former member upon such terms as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate. After the reinstatement, the member will not have the right to vote for a period of 3 months.
